FRIDAY 5th APRIL 2024
LUKE 24 : 15 “As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them”.

Perhaps you have already participated in your own Emmaus walk.
The Emmaus Walk is a journey of varying emotions, from disappointment to joy, from blindness to enlightenment. Cleopas and his companion’s walk on the dusty road to Emmaus is characterized by their grief over the events of the crucifixion of Jesus. Their hopes and expectations disappeared in the grave with Him. But amid their sorrow, Jesus himself came to them, walked with them, and then everything changed.
Perhaps you have already participated in your own Emmaus walk. A journey of conversations about the Word of God, a gathering of broken hearts. Then you and your interlocutors realize that you are not alone. Jesus is present through the Holy Spirit, who works through people, dreams, or circumstances. Just as we chat with a friend or have an unexpected encounter, God can reveal Himself, working through people and circumstances. It is a reminder that Jesus is always present, even if He is not visible. He walks with us, He talks with us, and He changes our hearts.
Just like Cleopas and his companion, we can sometimes be blind to the presence of Jesus in our lives. We can be trapped in our minds, our limited perspectives, and our limitations. We can talk about Jesus in the past tense as an interesting historical figure without realizing that He is alive and present today. But God can open our eyes to His presence, illuminate our hearts with His light, and change our lives with His grace. Let’s make our hearts receptive, like Cleopas and his companion, to the presence of Jesus in our lives.
PRAYER: Dear Jesus, thank you for always being with us, even when we don’t realize it. May our eyes be opened to Your presence in our lives, and may our hearts burn with a love for You that never goes out. Help us to recognize You, follow You, and serve You in every step of our life’s journey. AMEN
