17 – 23 MARCH 2025 DEVOTIONAL SERIES: NARCISSISM
WHAT IS NARCISSISM?

Narcissism is characterized by an exaggerated sense of self-importance, a lack of empathy for others, a need for excessive admiration, and the belief that YOU alone are unique and deserve special treatment. People with strong narcissistic tendencies always put themselves first and use others to achieve their own goals. They constantly seek recognition but have an internal emptiness that can never be filled.
My father always reminded us to say “we” more often than “I.” This week, we will address a theme that is making global headlines daily—it is not good news for raising the next generation! It is downright dangerous that our children are exposed to narcissistic leaders who glorify themselves regardless of the millions they destroy.
I will explore Biblical warnings and wisdom on this topic, with the goal of keeping our hearts humble and open before God. Please share this series in the hope that people will stop glorifying narcissists.
DAILY THEMES FOR THE WEEK
Monday, March 17 – Lovers of Themselves
Narcissists place themselves at the centre of the universe and expect others to feed their egos. They seek out people who adapt to their needs and manipulate situations for their own benefit. The Bible warns us against this type of self-love, which does not align with true godly love.
Tuesday, March 18 – Money as the Currency of Approval
For a narcissist, money is not just a way to gain power but a means to create an image of greatness. Narcissists are often obsessed with wealth and will even exploit others to serve their own interests. As Christians, we are called to have a healthy relationship with money and see it as a tool, not an idol.

Wednesday, March 19 – The Grandiose Nature of Narcissism
Narcissists exude an exaggerated confidence, but behind the mask, they are insecure and empty. Like the Wizard in The Wizard of Oz, their projected image is an illusion. We are called to practice true humility and find our identity in Christ rather than in a false image of grandeur.
Thursday, March 20 – Pride and Arrogance
Proverbs repeatedly warns us about pride. It is the fundamental belief that one needs no one—not even God. Narcissists reject genuine relationships and use people as pawns. Jesus’ words about the Pharisees serve as a clear warning for us to avoid pride and self-glorification.
Friday, March 21 – Blasphemy and Self-Worship
Some narcissists live as if they are their own gods. They criticize the church and God or see themselves as the only source of truth. The Bible teaches us that true wisdom lies in humility, not in arrogant judgment or self-glorification.
Saturday, March 22 – The Ungrateful Heart of a Narcissist
Narcissists are never satisfied. They see people as resources to be used and discarded rather than as fellow image-bearers of God. They live in a constant state of discontentment. True godly contentment comes through a heart of gratitude and a lifestyle of worship.
Sunday, March 23 – The Danger of Narcissism in the Last Days
Paul’s warning in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 about people being lovers of themselves, greedy, proud, and ungrateful is a prophetic reflection of our world today. We are called to be different—to live a life of true godliness, humility, and service to God and our neighbors.
A CALL TO HUMILITY
This week is an opportunity to look into the mirror of God’s Word and ask: Am I seeking my own glory, or am I living to glorify God?
Let us choose humility over pride, love over self-glorification, and service over self-centeredness. Share this devotional series with your family, friends, church, and community. May we all learn to be like Christ—the true humble King who came to serve, not to be served.
Blessed week of devotion!
