Easter is a time of revival, a time in which the living Jesus comes to you and calls you by your name. Maria, Wilma, Mirjam, Griet, Oubaas, Ivor…. Just enter your name. He knows your past. He knows your pain and heartache. He knows your wounds and your problems. And how deeply you are depressed with it. ‘Look at Me’ say, Jesus, ‘Look at that empty grave, I am the living One, I defeated death’. My love is stronger than your sinful past. My blood is forgiving blood. My comfort heals your heartache.
God empowered you with sorrow and jubilation through the events during Easter weekend. He liberated you from a past that holds you prisoner. He gave you love that you never really experienced. Words spoken to you or by you. Probes that always plague you. Things that went wrong. The good news of Easter weekend is that Jesus wants to give advice. He died, nailed on that cross, and with His resurrection, our is renewed.
PRAYER: Loving Father, thank you for the miracle of Easter, in which You free us from our past and give us a new beginning. Help us to embrace You, and shine in Your power. Guide us from darkness to light. May we, through the Holy Spirit, fully experience the joy and gratitude of Your resurrection, and may we be prepared to share that good news of Your love and grace with others. AMEN.
